Randomized recoil patterns
Totally random would be nice, but maybe there's a processing issue there. Another option would be to choose a bunch (maybe 10-20) similar-ish (so the AK should still pull generally up-right on all patterns, for example) recoil patterns which could be chosen at random at the beginning of the trigger pull.
One of the biggest skills in the game at the moment are people simply memorizing recoil patterns, which seems somewhat cheezy in the sense that it's quite unrealistic that a gun would always have *exactly* the same recoil pattern.

NotgonnashownameThis would make shooting feel real

Loliloveruwuthough... a gun always also shoot where its pointed :P
but maybe if guns have more random variation on how much they recoil left/right and up/down, it would create a close enough effect -

Apashi/HellHoundI feel like this would be devastating to the comp scene and isn't neccesary.
It's perfect as it is IMO and adds a higher skill cieling.
Not everything needs realism, gunplay is important. -

anrykoNo. The gun should have a reproducible recoil pattern that can be learned. The pattern can be scaled dynamically based on the speed and direction of players' movement, but it should definitely not be random.

JagickThe recoil (or rather bullet deviation) should absolutely be random. If you ask me, being able to land your shots despite this, without memorizing a pattern, involves more skill. Competitive is absolutely a thing, but the moment the game's mechanics caters exclusively to that community as some other games have is the day the game begins to die. Guns do actually recoil predictably, an AKM for example will tend to recoil (recoil being the physical movement of the firearm) back and up towards the right by its very design. This is the reason they came standard issue with the slant muzzle brake to try to mitigate this recoil impulse by directing the gasses in that direction instead.
What people really mean by recoil is bullet deviation. We don't want laser guns (even though these guns would be pretty accurate at these ranges.) But the same pattern every time is bad too.
If nothing else, a compromise: Enabling randomized deviation in the lobby options or something.
